KLIA
(KUALA LUMPUR INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT)
THE MOST SOPHISTICATED AIRPORT IN ASIA
In 1991, the government of Malaysia embarked upon a site selection exercise for a new international airport to replace the existing Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International airport (SAAS), which has served the gateway into Malaysia since 1965.

A greenfield site covering 10,000 hectares of relatively flat land in Sepang was chosen as the site of the new KL International Airport (KLIA). The airport is positioned to serve as a premier air transportation and cargo transhipment hub for the Asia Pacific region.

An Anglo-Japanese Airports Consortium (AJAC) was commision to carry out the masterplan study. The plan advocated an airport configuration of a single mega terminal and a satellite building with 2 parallel but staggered runways. Based on a modular expansion concept, the airport will eventually comprise 2 main terminal building and 4 satellite buildings, which will have a total capacity of 100 million passengers annually.

Operating round-the-clock, in its initial stage, KLIA will be able to cater comfortable for an annual passenger throughput of 25 million and a cargo handling capacity of 1.2 million tonnes.

From the onset, the design of the entire project was inclined towards environmental consciousness. Thus emerged the enveloping theme of " An Airport In The Forest and A Forest In The Airport ", with strong and dynamic symbiosis between Malaysian identity and a hi-tech imagery of a contemporary airport.

The KL International Airport with its state-of-art features and generous capacity replace the Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah International Airport in Subang as the gateway to Malaysia.

The facilities such as premier facilities, service facilities , technology, and also the the access routes to the KLIA are being provide for the passengers.
